Retirement Statement from Dr Jeni Worden

A message from Dr Worden
We wish to announce the retirement of our beloved GP Partner, Dr Jeni Worden, after 14 years of dedicated service to The Farmhouse Surgery. She would like to share the following statement with you all:
"After nearly 14 years working at Farmhouse Surgery, I have finally decided to hang up my stethoscope and retire from my current position as a GP partner. It has not been an easy decision as I have had some of the most fulfilling years as a doctor whilst at the practice, with the most amazing and lovely patients and inspiring work colleagues. Previously, I had worked at two other local practices since moving down from Manchester in 1991, where I trained to be a GP, but Farmhouse is where I have been for the longest, and it will always have a special place in my heart. I have seen children grow up and have their own children, parents turn into grandparents and people pass on, through illness or old age. This is the true magic of being a GP in the NHS, the ability to be with people at all stages of life, and something that I will be eternally grateful for. "
" However, I am now in my early 60’s, have my own grandchildren (both still very young) and I need to move on to being ‘GG’ or ‘Ginger Gran’, as my daughter has now decided to call me, with a nod to my love of horses and a sturdy grey cob called Oscar who needs riding more often (I’m not sure he agrees!). As some of my staff have found out, when I’m upstairs in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil, I love to sing (second soprano for those in the know) and I want to expand on this, with 3 singing holidays now booked before the end of the year and looking forward for more time to practice for my three current choirs that I am a member of. My partner would quite like to see more of me, and my garden needs some love too. All in all, I’m sure I’m not going to get bored when not sitting in my consulting room. "
" I’m not throwing away my medical bag just yet, as I will be helping out with holiday cover for the remaining GP’s and I live locally so you may well see me around, please do come and say hello - I may not remember your name at first but I’d be delighted to catch up with you and your news.
Finally, I just want to thank everyone that I have had to privilege to work with, look after and help since I joined the practice in October 2011. My final day as a partner(11th July 2025) is going to be very emotional, for all the right reasons and I will be driving home at the end of the day with very mixed emotions but principally with gratitude and hopefully a job well done… "
